Spring Bonnets

For our sewing party this Thursday we will be starting on our spring bonnets and hats. Make sure to bring millinery wire, buckram and pre-made binding with you. This project goes together quickly if the prep work is done ahead of time.

Don't worry about bringing fabric to cover it with this week. However, you will want to have it on hand as well as feathers, lace and other trim for our next sewing party.

War Of 1812 Lecture

I kown that this is a little "before our time" but I wanted to share this great lecture series at Renfrew Park.

Annual Spring Lecture Series—1812: Waynesboro and the War (The Impact, The Lifestyle and The Music) February 2, March 1 & April 11 at 7 p.m. Underwriting support provided by Charles & Undine Warner.

Commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, this series explores various facets of that war, from its overall historical significance to its impact on the lives of local residents.

I missed posting the 1st. So here are the 2nd and 3rd.

2nd Lecture—Thursday, March 1, 7 p.m. (Snow date March 8) Maxine Beck and Marie Lanser Beck present “Children of the Conflict: Waynesboro’s Youth in 1812,” focusing on the effects of the war on area children and families.

3rd Lecture—Wednesday, April 11, 7 p.m.
David K. Hildebrand presents “War Songs: The War of 1812 as Told Through Ballads,” exploring the life and times of the period through its music.
